Local Attractions
If you are a golfer you are spoilt for choice. It was recently confirmed by Golf World that East Lothian was one of the worlds’ top golf destinations with 3 of its courses in the top 100 in the world.
East Lothians towns and villages are quaint and interesting. From North Berwick harbour you can take the “Sula” for a sail out to the Bass Rock, a gannet sanctuary, seeing the puffins and seals en route. Dunbar meanwhile boasts to be the sunniest place in Scotland where you can see the fishing boats and swim in the indoor wave swimming pool for the days when the sun isn’t at it’s best! The beaches are fantastic with miles of golden sand and opportunities to scuba dive, windsurf and fish.
The Lammermuir Hills are the backdrop to the county. Sheep and grouse accompany tracks and trails for walking and cycling. Hopes Reservoir lends itself to picnics and hikes and for the more energetic you can walk across Lammerlaw to Berwickshire. Small villages such as Garvald and Gifford offer a warm welcome after a day’s exertion.
Edinburgh is on our doorstep. There are many galleries and museums, exhibitions and concerts and exciting buildings to explore. Walking down the Royal Mile from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace you can’t help but feel the ambience of long ago. During August the famous Edinburgh Festival comes to town-music,art and drama are everywhere for three weeks and the city just buzzes.
